The political cycle of the "Concertación" (1990-2010)
Main Article Content
Abstract
The triumph of the political right in the presidential election of 2009 closed a political cycle opened twenty years earlier by the Concertación de Partidos por la Democracia, a.k.a. "Concertación" (Coalition of Parties for Democracy). The coalition remained in power for four periods, implementing a series of reform policies, whose content is detailed in this article. We add an analysis of the reasons for the end of the cycle, whose maximum expression was the election of Sebastián Piñera as President of Chile in 2009, to the study of the public policies of the period.
