Theorical considerations in regard to a new model of integration and development in latin america and the caribbean
Main Article Content
Abstract
Despite the impossibility of a classical integration in Latin America and the Caribbean to promote development, guarantee the equitable distribution of profits, decrease the region’s dependence on world economy centers and improve its position in it, it continues to be an essential complement of the efforts and national development policies to achieve these goals. It follows from these considerations that integration should become itself a different model in which the different elements of its nature –the principles on which it is based, the goals it aims to achieve and the mechanisms implemented to do so, among other aspects–express a new character and therefore, a new type of integration that contributes progressively to changes in social production relations, leading to a dialectical relationship between all the components. These elements are analyzed in this paper with the purpose of contributing to the construction of the theoretical foundation for the necessary new model of integration and development in the Latin America and Caribbean region, currently expressed in the Bolivarian Alliance for Our America ́s People” (Alianza Bolivariana para los Pueblos de Nuestra América), ALBA.
