Abstract

The object of this study is to analyze the Colombian State’s role and its effects on the internal crisis. The State and the political system have failed to modify their structures to give way to a more democratic model with the participation of new political forces. On the contrary, the closed structures of the Frente Nacional remain, and even though the National Constitution has changed, the State has not been transformed, triggering an internal crisis during the last two decades and the persistence of the armed conflict.
