Reflections about Financing Politics

Abstract

The present essay pretends to explain the importance of the rules about political financing in general and of financing the electoral campaigns in particular. We offer a comparison between current legislation in Argentina, the sanction will be put into force starting in 2012, and the US legislation: the aim is to analyze the incentives generated in each of the systems. The experience of Barack Obama and micro fundraising for his campaign through an intensive use of new technologies that permit Internet, it offers lessons that should be learned by those who think and reflect about the institutional design and its implications.
