The democratization of the drug trafficking

Abstract

This article describes the new business strategies that Mexican cartels are implementing to position themselves in criminal business within the United States and in various Latin American countries. It presents a characterization of the deals that drug traffickers are brokering with local groups giving them a greater share of the business’ profits. It is a regional analysis of drug trafficking that enables us to place the current debate on drug legalization.
