Miryam Colacrai

Abstract

This article reviews the new diplomacies and the ongoing changes in Foreign Policy as an outcome of interdependence relationships among subnational actors. After developing different concepts related to these types of linkages, it reflects, based on some examples, on the increasing development of Argentine-Chilean relationships between provinces, regions and local governments. It also highlights their relevance as a necessary complement of traditional diplomacy and one of the most distinctive features of the qualitative jump experienced by the relationship between these two South American countries over the last few decades.
