An epistemological view of integration in the latin – caribbean region and its need for movement and change

Abstract
This paper analyzes current integration processes in the “Latin-Caribbean” region and presents arguments in favor of a multi-dimensional conception of them. This implies going beyond the contractual economic commercial logic that is typical of agreements promoted by the United States, and constructing processes – or reinforcing some that are already underway – that make provisions for political, social and economic-productive dimensions. These processes, says the author, should consider and promote the participation of the region’s universities and private companies. The challenge of building a more autonomous, equal, solidary and productive region can be faced this way.
