The bilateral relationship between Chile-Peru: a case of opposite geopolitical vision
Main Article Content
Abstract
Critical geopoliticsThe present work is focused on analyzing, under the conceptions that establish critical geopolitics, diverse discourses that have established the bilateral relationship which has generated different geopolitical visions between Chile and Peru, taking into consideration some aspects of the case, throughout the relationship, that have generated a kind of a geopolitical ethos in the academic and governmental discourse in both countries. As a direct consequence this generates the perception of constant competition among the parts that, depending on the internal or external conditions, new conflict factors are added. Nevertheless, it is also observed that although elements of cooperation exist among the parts, they possess an outlying location in the discourse, mainly due to a tendency to maximize the negative and to minimize the positive things, as well as to follow constant geopolitical elements inside a historical discourse.
