Abstract

This essay proposes a theoretical discussion around the concepts of totality and modernity, linked to the crossroads between the hegemonic narratives of modernity from central countries and the critical currents of modernity in the face of the social question. Through the discussion, the article addresses totality as a necessary and useful question for the social sciences, the time (and the reality) in which we are situated, in order to present totality and the strategic oblivion of modernity as keys to rethinking and elaborating social theory based on Araujo's reflections.
